We really know very little about the Mayan culture, since everything that has been transmitted to us is from those who carried out a genocide in America. Some archaeologists are surprised by the mystery of how such a developed civilization could have disappeared so suddenly without a clear reason. Their elaborate calendars (or rather synchronaries) to count the days leave some questions in all their scholars. Could it be that they were driven by a meaningless evolutionary aberration? Or could it be that we have not yet understood what time really is and what the way we count it does to us?
Calendar means the book of calends and these were taxes collected by the Roman Empire from the peoples they conquered. In this way, in the beginning there were ten calends, with September being calend number seven, October being number eight, November being number nine and December being number ten. Then the emperors Augustus and Julius Caesar created calends in honor of them. In this way we can question what the real intention of our current calendar is.
In our culture where time is money, the calendar is a way of organizing the taxes we pay to governments. But for a people like the Mayans (and perhaps for many others destroyed by colonial empires) time was a cycle in which the human soul was perfected in its evolutionary path. A path in which love and integration with a harmonious whole becomes more important than the bank account.
There is much to learn about these pre-Columbian civilizations and due to the manipulation of information the only possible way is through direct contact with their people and the temples they strategically left behind.
We invite you to visit the Mayan World in Guatemala or the Riviera Maya and Palenque in Mexico. Without a doubt, more than answers, many questions will arise in you that only you yourself can answer.
